In my private practice in Haarlem North I give guidance to any adult who wants to change something to become one with oneself. My therapeutic approach
In our first appointment I will let you tell me your story and give you an idea of the things we can work on and how. We can then set a next appointment, or several, whatever you feel comfortable with.
I work from a humanistic perspective, not from the medical 'diagnosis-protocol' perspective. I am licensed to give a diagnosis and I know the protocols, but at heart I believe every person is unique. Even though we can experience the same emotions as others and we can suffer comparable complaints, we all have our unique background, set of beliefs and strengths. So I look at the person, not at the diagnosis, to match my approach and set goals together.
I also work from a holistic perspective. This means I believe body and mind (and soul) are inseperable. To me it is important to involve the body and subconscious in therapy, instead of the (conscious) mind alone. Allthough I make use of well known, empirically supported cognitive behavioral exercises, I also use Mindfulness and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) exercises to involve the body and make therapy a more personal and deepening experience. These approaches all combine nicely to match the newly widespread Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) model (explained on Wikipedia).
The last 3 years I have studied 'therapeutic drawing', so, if it appeals to you, I can also give you creative assignments to help you uncover your subconscious and develop new perspectives and possibilities. Besides these therapeutic approaches I use my heart, sensitivity and intuition to connect with you and help you find your way through whichever hardship you are dealing with.
